May is "Watercolor Improvement Month," and the assignment is to learn about the characteristics of watercolor paints.
This week I painted a watercolor of a sparkling blue fish, either a sardine or horse mackerel.
Due to the availability of stock, we had sardines on Monday, horse mackerel on Tuesday, and horse mackerel + dried sardines on Thursday.
I always ask the kids, what colors would you use for this assignment?
What colors should the fish's body be? It's okay to make mistakes, so choose your own paint.
I test colors in my sketchbook and experiment with colors.
A blue fish that appears rainbow-colored, with slight yellow, red, purple, and light blue colors.
We did a lot of color experiments, including diluting colors with water and tissue, as we did last week, and completed a watercolor painting of a blue fish.
