In October, students chose their favorite picture from these 10 movie posters and copied it using watercolors.

This time, I wanted to focus on "mixing watercolors to create colors" and "using various brushes to paint the details," so I traced the shapes.

The basic rule for watercolors is to leave white behind and gradually build up to a lighter color, but this isn't always the case; there's a lot of flexibility involved, and I thought it might be a daunting task for elementary school students, but the children were incredibly focused as they experimented with colors. They learned that even a small amount of watercolor paint can be spread with water to cover a large area, and they also learned what to do if the paint becomes too thick. They're also becoming better at using the palette. Becoming better at using the palette is also a sign that they're becoming more familiar with watercolors.

There are still many students who have not finished their work, but we will give them another round of time in December so that everyone can finish their work.
